standing

Chris's new trick is getting up from sitting to standing.  He gets into downward dog, and then pops straight up! 

he walks!

For the past month or so, Chris has been able to walk short distances, but would only walk to people.  About a week ago, he started walking for real.  One night, I guess he just decided he wanted to go places, and he walked all around his playroom.  So now, at two years and two months, we have a true toddler. 

daycare day #1

Chris did great at his first day of daycare. Doug dropped him off (no crying), and I picked him up (happy and well rested). He apparently spent a lot of time sitting and watching the other kids. He took an hour and a half nap in the morning, which is really long for him, and an hour afternoon nap. Usually he is about a 45 minute napper. It was strange being away from him. I miss my buddy. Day #1 at daycare done!

Chris ate a graham cracker today for the first time. He also rode in the baby seat part of a shopping cart successfully for the first time at Target. I only have two more days as a stay at home mom. I'm excited to get back to work and learn how to be an oncologist, but I am sad that I will have much less time with Chris. He has been my little buddy this year, pretty much always with me. Monday will be his first day at daycare. I have orientation activities this week. Then, we fly to Oregon for Carrie's wedding next weekend, and then I start as a Heme/Onc fellow the next week at the VA.

cheese curl

Chris had his first success with eating cheese curls today! Most of them ended up next to him in the high chair, but he actually got some in his mouth and ate them.

another cold

Chris has gotten another cold. Last night he felt warm to the touch, and he had his first fever of 100.6. He is mostly just congested and sleeping alot today.

first cheerio

Chris ate his first Cheerio today. He got several into his fist, two into his mouth, spit one out, and proceeded to gag on and gum the second one until it was gone. Not exactly graceful, but it's a first.

he is sitting!

Today at his physical therapy appointment, Chris sat by himself for the first time! Patience and physical therapy have paid off. He can sit for about 30 seconds before toppling over to the side or backwards. We will be doing a lot of sitting on the floor with toys now!

backpack carrier

Today was Chris's first time in the backpack carrier. We went for a walk up Waterton Canyon. He was fine on the way up, but cried and fussed on the way down.

cold

Well, it was bound to happen sometime. Chris has gotten his first cold. Over the last couple of days, he got a stuffy nose. He has been sneezing and coughing a little. Doug and I had it last week, so we gave it to him. Thankfully, he doesn't seem too uncomfortable. This will be the first of many, especially once he goes to day care.

first tooth

Doug decided to check Chris's mouth today, and he found his first tooth! It's in the bottom center, and you can just see a little white peak poking out.

swing

Yesterday, Chris had his first ride in a park swing. After picking him up from the sitter's, we went for a walk around the lake and stopped at the playground. I put him into the baby swing. It was way too big for him! The seat went all of the way up to his armpits, and I could have fit three or four of him in the seat front to back. So, I held on to him under his arms and didn't let go of him at all. I pushed him back and forth a little bit, and he seemed to enjoy it. He made some of the a.! a.! a.! exclamations he makes when he's excited.
