I took a different route to work today, down Broadway through Englewood. I had never taken the entire stretch of Broadway before from Highlands Ranch all the way downtown. I found that Englewood is a bit seedy. I saw a couple of signs which I found irritating along the way:
1. "Wife Savor Laundromat"- WTF? Who thought that was a good name?
2. Holiday Motel, one of those seedy, run down 1950's motels, with a sign advertising "American Owned". Suggesting there is something wrong with immigrants. And somebody thought it was important enough to put out on a sign.

Chris is now finally crawling properly, with his butt up. It's only. . . a year behind schedule.

parking observations

On my way into work today, I ran into a mom with two kids in a stroller in the stairwell of the parking garage. She was alone and seemed to be stuck figuring out what to do. There is no elevator. I helped her and carried one of her kids down the stairs while she carried the other one in the stroller. In contrast, at Children's Hospital, they have free valet parking, which is a huge help. I have been very impressed with Children's. It's little details like that that make a hospital visit more manageable.

Another thing I have noticed at Denver Health is that patients will hand off parking pay tickets. I have seen this multiple times, where someone is pulling out of a spot, and someone else is pulling in, and they hand off their ticket to the next person. It tells you something about our patient population, in that paying $2 for parking is a big deal. People help each other out. And they have no qualms about cheating the system.
