losing my edge

Today, I had to think for about 20 minutes to come up with the drug name doxazosin. That is the formulary medication for benign prostatic hypertrophy at the VA. I must have prescribed or refilled that medication hundreds of times at my continuity clinic at the VA, and I forgot it. I don't know if that is knowledge rapidly escaping, or mommy brain, or chronic sleep deprivation, or some combination, but it is a little scary how fast I am forgetting things that I knew. I do hope to do some moonlighting later on this year so I actually remember some medicine.

the hood

The view from the back yard. The rocks are at Roxborough State park. I went there yesterday in hopes of finding a trail to take the stroller on, but the trails were too bumpy.

back on the grid

So. . . . I have been without internet access for the past two weeks, since we moved in to our house. It was hard at first. I had some internet withdrawal. Did I mention we didn't have TV, either? So just me, the baby, and a bunch of boxes in the house all day. It's hard to move with a young infant. I wouldn't recommend it if you can avoid it! But this was unavoidable, unless we were going to stay at the Breakers, and we just didn't have enough room there. We are all doing well. Chris is getting bigger! When we visited Nate and Angie in the hospital, I took Chris to the nursery and weighed him. He weighed in at 9 lb 0.4 oz! Putting on weight like a champ. Three of these pictures show him sleeping. That is deceptive. That is the easiest time to take a picture of him. He was sleeping for 4-6 hours a night last week, but for the past two nights he has been up all night. I don't know what happened.

Johnathan James Pennock

Johnathan James Pennock was born on July 25th, Angie's due date! He was 7 lb 15 oz. We visited them the next day. He was a very well behaved little guy, just let everyone hold him and didn't seem to mind all the commotion of visitors.

last day at the breakers

Today is our last day in our apartment at the Breakers. It is kind of sad moving out- this place has become our home. We have lived here since we moved to Colorado. We lived here before and after we got married. Doug spent alot of time home alone here the first year before he found work. This is the home we took our baby home to. It has been a good place- I like the lake, and enjoyed using the pool and going to fitness classes. Our lives are different now, with Chris. I can't just go and swim or go to a class. He is my primary responsibility. We also need more room. There is not enough room for a dedicated nursery in our two bedroom apartment. The house we are moving to is a small three bedroom house, so Chris will have his room, we'll have a room, and we'll have a guest room/ computer room. I still haven't been in the house yet. Apparently the master bedroom is good sized but the other two bedrooms are pretty small. We'll see how well everything fits in the guest room. It will be nice to have a nursery to set up, decorate, and make kid safe. Moving is going to be interesting logistically. Basically, Doug, Joe, Ramin, and hopefully Nate (assuming Angie doesn't go into labor today or tomorrow) will do the entire move. I'm going to take the baby, pack n play, and baby supplies to Angie's house. We are planning on spending Saturday night at the Pennocks place. Then we'll trek down to Littleton on Sunday. Until today, I hadn't thought about the fact that I would have no place to sit and nurse the baby once all the furniture had been removed. I was planning on staying at our apartment during the day, but I realized that wouldn't work very well. I appreciate the Pennocks offering us a home base for this crazy move.
